Jefferson Pays Tribute to Veterans for Their Special Day

A ceremony hosted by Mayor Russell Felter was held at the municipal building Saturday.

Jefferson Township honored those who served at a special Veterans Day commemoration ceremony Saturday morning at the Municipal Complex on Weldon Road, the Advertiser News South reported.

Mayor Russell Felter was the master of ceremonies for the event. The Jefferson Township High School Band performed military music and everyone in attendance—town leaders, residents, veterans—joined their voices to sing the National Anthem. Students from the third, fourth and fifth grades from the White Rock School, under the direction of Jan Courtney, sang a selection of patriotic songs.

Guest speakers for the ceremony were Brigadier General John J. Mc Guiness, commanding general of the Picatinny Arsenal; Commander James Amos, NJ Department American Legion and Brigadier General John J. Elam, commander of the 102nd Training Division in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
