Beth Recksiek has held a job in Jefferson Township that few people would want, at least according to business administrator James Leach.
"Since biblical times, tax collectors have been among the most hated people around," Leach said. "Even in temples, they were always pushed aside."
Leach said, in honoring Recksiek upon her retirement, that she's taken a job where several people take abuse from the public, and gotten residents to the point where they enjoy working with her.

"Senior citizens especially don't like paying taxes," Leach said. "Beth has started an outreach program with our seniors, she helps them with all the paperwork, and they really don't mind working with her. She's been a real asset to this township."
Recksiek will be leaving the township's employ on Sept. 1 after 10 years, starting as an accounting clerk before she was promoted to tax collector.
