Jefferson Township Students Win Essay Contest
Winning essays discuss parents of the year.
The Junior Woman’s Club of Jefferson Township announced the winners of their annual Parent of the Year Essay Contest.
This contest was open to all fourth grade students attending White Rock and Arthur Stanlick elementary schools. The three winners from White Rock are Brianna Drwiega, Nick Gencarelli and Peyton Riegel. The three winners from Arthur Stanlick are Yves Turgeon, Ritesh Trivedi and Kaeli Vera.
The essay contest was held not only to stimulate creative writing skills, but also to promote awareness of family importance. Children were encouraged to explain why their parent(s) should be the Parents(s) of the Year.

All students names were removed from the essays before judging, and all essays were judged on content alone. If the child participating did not have parents, he/she was asked to write about a person in his or her life who would deserve such an honor.
All children who participated received a certificate of participation from the Junior Woman’s Club, and the top three winners from each school received an award certificate and an educational game to further encourage them to keep on learning and writing.
