Jefferson Library Marks 'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary

The local repository of books, information and freedom offers great news for super fans of the British TV cult hit.

There is no better news than having a reason to celebrate one's favorite television obsession, and Saturday marks a red-letter day for fans of the British TV cult classic "Doctor Who." The show got its start exactly 50 years ago, on Nov. 23, 1963. And local fans can commemorate the occasion at the Jefferson Township Public Library.

The local repository of books, information and freedom offers something that super fans likely won't be able to resist: Stop by the library's front desk anytime Saturday and challenge yourself to a Doctor Who trivia quiz.

And more than mere bragging rights are at stake, Who-fans. A winner will be chosen next Monday, and she or he will receive for their Who-aptitude a super-cool red Dalek figurine and its unopened box (a reason for collectors to cheer).

There is no cost to play, so if you are a fan of the Doctor, this is your chance to show how deep your devotion is. The library is located at 1031 Weldon Ave. in Oak Ridge, and it's open Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.. For more info, call 973-208-6244.
