More Than 5 Things You Need to Know About Jefferson Day

Here's your guideline to the events happening at the township's 25th annual celebration.

is coming tomorrow. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the township’s day and the 75th anniversary of Jefferson Fire Company No. 1 with activities starting at 11 a.m. and going straight through to 11 p.m. Here’s what you need to know as you navigate the day.

  1. The Parade: It will begin at 11 a.m., and go from the municipal building to the high school. Floats and dignitaries will abound.
  2. The Vendors: Check out the high school field from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for vendors selling jewelry and crafts, food and drink. Don’t forget to stop by Jefferson Patch’s booth and say hello!
  3. The Entertainment: It will go throughout the day on two separate stages on opposite sides of the field. Check out younger bands on one stage, and more “mature” selections on the other.
  4. The Competitions: You can choose from a variety of food contests, children’s games, the Irish road bowling contest the hose-laying competition and the bicycle parade and contest.
  5. The Games: A Wii/Xbox 360/PS3 tent, children’s games of skill, the iDance system and inflatables for the kids are your choices here.
  6. The Concert: The Robert Murdock Band will perform under the stars on the main stage, starting at 7:30 p.m.
  7. The Announcement: During one of the Robert Murdock Band’s intermissions, this year’s citizens of the year will be announced on the main stage.
  8. The Fireworks: They kick off at about 9:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, relax and enjoy the show.
