NJ Free Talks Renewable Energy, Depression Discussion at the Library

Your daily planner for Jefferson includes an important reminder for local recreational boaters and news on the Scholastic Book Fair at White Rock School.

Here's what you need to know for Tuesday.

  • Book fairs are like travel agents for readers. The Scholastic Book Fair kicked off late last week and continues Tuesday at White Rock School in Jefferson from 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get early holiday gifts that inspire kids to journey the world through great reads.
  • NJ FREE, a coalition of organizations and individuals committed to moving the state’s energy economy from a fossil fuel‐based system to one based on renewable energy, offers a free presentation Tuesday on New Jersey's energy future. The free event, facilitated by Greg Gorman of the Skyline Group, takes place at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 1 West Nelson St. in nearby Newton.
  • When we or someone we love is sad, it's hard to know:  Is it Depression, or Just the Blues? If you or someone you know is experiencing persistent sadness or emptiness, decreased energy and has a hard time making decisions or getting through daily living? If so, join in a discussion led by SueAnn Schierloh, an educator and speaker in the wellness field,  about the different types of depression and its symptoms. The event also will offer an overview of coping strategies. The event takes place at the Jefferson Township Library, 1031 Weldon Road at 7 p.m. Register for your seat at www.jeffersonlibrary.net or call 973-208-6244.
  • Weekend reminder for recreational boaters: Your final opportunity in 2013 to obtain the NJ Boating Safety Certificate comes this Saturday. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 06-07 offers its periodic boating safety course “About Boating Safely at the Hopatcong Civic Center this Saturday in nearby Hopatcong.
