Oak Ridge Man Jailed for Tax Evasion

Owner of Eco-Lawn gets three months in jail plus home confinement.

An Oak Ridge business owner has been sentenced to three months in prison followed by six months of home confinement after pleading guilty to income tax evasion.

Glenn Ferrara, owner of Eco-Lawn, diverted $156,381 in income for the 2007 tax year to personal and business accounts, the IRS said, citing court documents. The unreported income resulted in a tax liability of $55,648.

The IRS also said Ferrara failed to report $50,403 in the 2006 tax year, which resulted in a tax liability of $16,381.

Since parole has been abolished in the federal system, Ferrara must serve all of his time, the IRS said. He must also serve two years of supervised release after his release from prison, according to the order handed down by U.S. District Judge Anne Thompson.
