Patch Takes It Off: Dancing My Way to Weight Loss

Jazzercise was a fun way to work out.

This week’s installment of Patch Takes It Off takes us to class. I participated in an hour-long class at the Lake Hopatcong Jazzercise studio.

Donna Rodick taught the upbeat class, which includes a mixture of dancing and weight-based exercises.

According to the Jazzercise web site, exercisers can burn up to 600 calories in one hour. Each class, it says, “combines dance-based cardio with strength training and stretching to sculpt, tone and lengthen muscles for maximum fat burn.”

I had a great time working out at this class, and was definitely sweating hard by the time I was done.

I’m ashamed to admit, however, that I have not been on a scale in several weeks. As you read this, I am on vacation with my family in Vermont. I am hoping to find some great new things to do for exercise, as I will be in a place with lots of places to walk, hike or bike ride. I will keep you posted when I return.
