
Though the numbers were low, voters in Jefferson Township followed the Republican line in Tuesdayβs election.
Slightly more than 17% of the registered population, 2,259 voters, filled out ballots in town either on Election Day or through absentee ballots.
Voters preferred Joe Pennachio (R) over Wasim Kahn (D) for the 26th legislative district by a margin of 1,439 to 673. Independent Joseph Scafa received 74 votes from Jefferson residents.

Republicans were favored for the two assembly seats with Jefferson voters as well. Alex DeCroce received 1,399 votes, while Jay Webber totaled 1,408. Democrats Joseph Raich and Elliot Isibor received 718 and 667, respectively. Green candidate Michael Spector garnered 97 votes.
Republican Margaret Nordstrom won the townshipβs vote for freeholder over her Democrat challenger Truscha Quatrone 1,391 to 730.

The township also voted yes to the ballot question regarding sports betting by a margin of 1,321 to 751.
All of those results echoed the overall results. Republicans won each of those races, and New Jersey voters overall backed the ballot question.
