School Choice Advocacy Comes to Morris County
A variety of pro-school choice groups are meeting Wednesday to get school choice legislation enacted in New Jersey.

School Choice advocates from across New Jersey will be coming together onΒ Wednesday, Jan. 29,Β as part of a national movement to allow parents to choose the schools to which they send their children.Β
The discussion -Β βParental Choice in EducationΒ -Β The Civil Rights Issue of Our Time" - is being held at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township tonight at 6:30 p.m.Β The event coincides with theΒ 4thΒ Annual National School Choice WeekΒ which runs through Feb. 1 and includesΒ over 5,500 events planned around the country.Β
The school choice forum is being put together by theΒ New Jersey Family Policy Council, with a variety of state-based co-sponsors: including the New Jersey Taxpayersβ Association, Alliance for Free Choice in Education, Americans for Prosperity β New Jersey, Parental Rights β New Jersey, Veritas Conservative Alliance,Β Morris Patriots and 2014 Unity.

The event will feature a panel of leading school choice advocates, includingΒ Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco (R-25); Len Deo, New Jersey Family Policy Council; Daryn Iwicki, Americans for Prosperity - New Jersey; Kim Chorba, NJ Network of Catholic School Families; and Israel Teitelbaum, Alliance for Free Choice in Education. Dr. Alieta Eck, of the Zarephath Health Center, Β will serve as master of ceremonies.
Plans will be discussed for achieving school choice - which includes a school voucher programΒ -Β in New Jersey and in Washington D.C., the only district that comes directly under the responsibility of Congress. With massive pressure from all 50 states on the district where $30,000 is spentΒ annually per student, school choice is an issue whose time has come, the sponsors said in a statement.Β
