Why Go: To meet representatives from more than 30 private (independent) schools and learn about those schools, as well as the mechanics of getting in.

Miles For Matheny
When/Where: Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. registration for cycling, running and Kids Fun Run events, Wheelchair Walk at 1 p.m., and celebratory community picnic from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Liberty Park in downtown Peapack-Gladstone.
Why Go: Miles for Matheny, originally conceived by the late Basking Ridge resident and Matheny Trustee Lu Huggins, has grown from a small wheelchair walk and cycling ride in 1998 to an event that attracts some 1,500 participants, volunteers and spectators. It is, in the words of Matheny President Steve Proctor, "as much a community event as it is a fundraiser, and one that attracts many participants from Basking Ridge, Bernardsville and other nearby communities as well as those from further away.
Cost: Free to watch; $8 for Kids Fun Run; $25 for registration on Sunday; cost of pledges; information and detailed schedule online.
