While Mother Nature might think sheβs playing a big joke on Jefferson and the rest of northern New Jersey, the township is ready for whatever she has to dish out. And it could be quite a bit.
βWe use a service called WeatherWorks, and according to the latest report, the snow is scheduled to start between 5 and 8 a.m., and could accumulate up to about 10 inches throughout the day,β said Jeff Elam, head of the townshipβs Department of Public Works (DPW).
While many think it may be too early for snow, this is not the first time the township has seen a storm for Halloween.

βThis is the third year in a row weβve had snow in October,β Elam said. βThe first year we were taken by surprise. The second year we were a little more prepared. This year, weβre ready.β
Elam said that plows have been hung on all the townshipβs trucks, the salt spreaders are ready, and enough salt for at least the first couple of storms is in stock.

βWe have guys scheduled to come in early tomorrow morning, and they will be ready to go as soon as the snow starts to fall,β Elam said.
