Society Seeks Donations Toward Historical Building

Organization is in need of office and display space.

PRESERVE, PROTECT, and PROMOTE the History of Jefferson Township is a sub-committee of the Jefferson Township Historical Society. This committee has begun launching a rundraising campaign to raise money necessary to purchase an 1870s building that is presently on the market.

Obtaining this building would provide us with a place to display historic artifacts that are presently stored in three storage units, provide an office work space, a library, a meeting room, and safe storage.

The society's present museum, the George Chamberlain Home, does not allow for adequate storage or work space necessary for us to accomplish its goals for the present and the future.

The society would like residents to look for our fundraising letter that will be included in the next issue of the Mayor's Newsletter. If each family in town would donate a share of $25, the society would have sufficient funds to acquire the property. All donations are tax deductible. Should anyone wish to submit adonation of $5,000.00, the Society will dedicate a room in their honor.

The committee is also interviewing our senior long time residents, acquiring their perspective on life in this Township when they were growing up.  The society would like to hear from any family that might have pictures of the area from years ago, and would be willing to share.
