Victim Shows Progress a Year After Berkshire Valley Road Crash

Andrea Fornelos has recently learned to feed herself again, report says.

A year after she survived a serious crash that left three injured on Berkshire Valley Road, Andrea Fornelos is finally starting to show progress on her recovery, according to a news report.

The 22-year-old East Hanover resident has recently learned to feed herself again and is demonstrating some alertness and concentration capacity, according to NJ.com.

Police have said Fornelos was driving a Volkswagen GolfΒ east on the Jefferson road when she lost control of her car and smashed into a Sierra GMC being driven by a teenager with her father.Β The teen and her father were hospitalized with moderate injuries, butΒ Fornelos, who police said had serious injuries,Β remained in a coma for weeks after the crash.

As Fornelos awoke from the coma, family members said they were unsure whether she knew they had been in the hospitalΒ with her for weeks, or whether she could understand sounds she was hearing.

But now, after spending time at rehabilitation centers and taking dietary supplements, Fornelos is regaining at least some of what she lost, NJ.com reported.
