Weekend Activities for Your Enjoyment

Let us guess: You've worked hard all week and just haven't had time to figure out what to do when the weekend comes. You've come to the right place: What follows is a list of lots of entertaining, edifying and/or enriching events for singles, families and kids of all ages.

Where/When: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley, 635 Berkshire Valley Road, Wharton Why Go: Crafts, vendors and a bake sale. Cost: Admission is free, but you can spend as much or as little as you want on items for sale.

Where/When: 6:30 p.m. Friday at , Lake Hiawatha Branch, 68 Nokomis Ave. Why Go: To explore the 1941 classic by John Huston, which many consider the greatest film ever made. Cost: Free, but you must register. Call Corinne Markey at 973-887-5159, extension 215

 
Where/When: Parsippany's on Sunday at 8 a.m. Why Go: To help fight breast cancer and save lives. Cost: Free. Call 800-227-2345 or write to parsippany.strides@cancer.org for more info.

Where/When: From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road in Kinnelon. Why Go: So you can eat some food, celebrate the fall harvest season and support the Kinnelon High School football program and the family of former KHS player Alex Vitaro who passed away tragically in August. Cost: $50 per person

Where/When: 1 p.m. on Sunday at Pyramid Mountain, 472 Boonton Avenue, Montville. Why Go: So you can see the colorful fall leaves from the mountains and get some exercise too. Cost: Free

 
Where/When: Oct. 14-17, 8 p.m. at , 36 Madison Ave, Madison. Why Go: Fundamental lessons about compassion, integrity, and courage in the adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer-prize winning novel. Cost: $32. Buy tickets or visit http://­www.­shake­spearenj.­org/­ for more information.

Where/When: The Chatham Community Theater, Friday and Saturday 8 p.m. Why go: See the award-winning Chatham Community Players perform a play by the playwright of "August: Osage County." Price: $20

When/Where: Friday, Oct. 14, 10–11:30 a.m. and 7–8:30 p.m. at  in Morris Township.
Why go: Make a trio of flavorful herbal vinegars using balsamic, red and white vinegars, as well as unusual varieties of thyme, including "Lime" and "French Market."

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.–1 p.m on the Merchant Block of Morris Plains. Why go: This is your last chance this season to enjoy this bountiful Saturday market.
Price: Free admission.

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m. at the  in Morris Township.
Why go: Writer and teacher Stephanie Cohen, with more than 20 years of teaching experience on the topic of perennials, will help you to create the garden of your dreams.

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m. at  in Morris Township.
Why go: You'll enjoy a craft beer tasting event with award winning beer writer "Joe Sixpack" in support of Homeless Solutions. Organized by the Young Leaders for HSI.
Price: $50 

When/Where: From noon to 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 15, and Sun., Oct. 16, at  in Morris Township. Why go: Adults over 21 will have the opportunity to try nearly 250 different wines made at 20 New Jersey wineries belonging to The Garden State Wine Growers Association. The festival will feature live bands, crafters, food and children’s activities.

When/Where: Sun., Oct. 16, 3 p.m. at the  in Morris Township.
Why go: A woman’s right to choose is explored in 14 performances, including theater, spoken word, comedy, poetry, oral history and journalism.
