Jersey City Burger Restaurant To Hold Grand Reopening With Giveaways

A NYC restaurateur will host a grand reopening of his Jersey City burger joint this Sunday.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Speedy's Burgers & Bowls will hold a grand reopening at their new location near Journal Square this Sunday.

The restaurant is an effort by Jersey City resident Dimitri Liberis — who also owns the West Village gastropub the Warren — to offer food at "accessible" prices.

The eatery moved earlier this year from its smaller location on Morris Avenue in the Paulus Hook section.

The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

"I wanted to do something more accessible, a burger under 10 dollars, flavorful handhelds, and playful salad bowls," he said.

Executive Chef Juan Bautista, of The Warren, designed the Speedy's menu for broad appeal, he said in a release.

"We wanted to satisfy everyone, from meat lovers to vegetarians, with gourmet-quality food at everyday prices," he said.

The new location is a partnership with Thomas's Homemade Ice Cream of Hoboken, a 30-year-old family business. Thomas' will operate under the same roof, serving sundaes and shakes alongside the burgers and bowls.

New Items And Giveaways

The shop will celebrate its grand reopening starting at 11 a.m. Sunday with buy one, get one free specials all day.

From 12-2, they will host a matcha pop-up.

What's new at the location? Some of the gourmet burgers can be had for under $8, and lunch specials will cost even less.

The restaurant will be located at 154 Chestnut Ave., near the Journal Square section. Hours are Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
