Man Found Dead In Hackensack River In Jersey City: Prosecutors

A man found dead under the Pulaski Skyway in Jersey City was identified as a Monmouth County resident by prosecutors.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 49-year-old Monmouth County man was found dead in the Hackensack River in Jersey City on Tuesday afternoon, prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said that shortly before 4:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a person floating underneath the Pulaski Skyway.

Police found Bryan Linington, 49, of the Cliffwood section of Matawan, floating in the water.

He was removed by the Jersey City Fire Department and pronounced dead at approximately 7:30 p.m., prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said, "At this stage of the investigation, the death does not appear to be suspicious. "

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death.
