Volunteers from Sodexo and CarePoint Health Hospitals team up with The Campus Kitchen at Saint Peter’s University and prepared more than 150 meals for community shelters this past week throughout Hudson County. This unique collaborative community outreach project also featured a nutrition education component to help develop student leaders and inform them on the process of crafting healthy meals at a minimal cost.

More than a dozen students attended the nutrition education session, which focused on creating a menu featuring plant-forward options. The cooking demonstration walked the young leaders through the process of making Sodexo’s Bulgogi Meatballs with Rice & Broccoli.

The Campus Kitchen at Saint Peter’s University (CKSPU) supports shelters or safe houses as well as also feeding local Individual families who receive meals directly from CKSPU. Some of the organizations it supports includes PERC Shelter, Saint Lucy’s Shelter, Haven Youth Respite, Magnificat House, Mary's Place0, Hope House and Lincoln Tunnel Motel.

Since the start of the year Sodexo, CarePoint Health and CKSPU have donated hundreds of hot meals. The three organization are working to not only fight hunger and malnutrition but are also aiming to reduce carbon emissions.
