• Closed Jersey City Restaurant Is Selling Its Liquor License (patch.com) — Jersey City residents who loved Barcade’s Grove Street location may see big changes ahead, as the long-running arcade bar is now putting its valuable Type 33 liquor license up for sale. Owners say they still might reopen somewhere in Jersey City, but for now they’re inviting interested locals to inquire about buying the license, joking it could even be a last-minute holiday gift.
   

• New Year's Eve marks beginning of the end for 2 rail systems' cards (nj.com subscription) — If you ride PATH from Journal Square or other Jersey City stations, your SmartLink and MetroCard are starting their final chapter. Beginning Dec. 31, you won’t be able to add value to either card at vending machines, as PATH shifts riders to the new TAPP tap-and-go system that’s already installed at Journal Square and other key stops.
