Family-Oriented Jersey City Café To Hold Grand Opening (patch.com) — A new family-focused spot, Café Littles on Jersey City’s West Side, is gearing up for a Jan. 24 grand opening that doubles as a neighborhood arts and community celebration. Owner Falen Bauciquot envisions the café as a welcoming hub with comfort food, games, and multigenerational events, including a ribbon cutting by Councilman Joel Brooks and an exhibition of 20 local artists.
   

2. Commuters will face higher parking fees at 25 NJ Transit locations Thursday (nj.com subscription) — If you park at West Side Avenue or Liberty State Park light rail stations in Jersey City, daily parking jumps to $9 and monthly passes to $126 starting Thursday. NJ Transit is raising rates at 25 locations statewide to better match market prices and fund maintenance, with officials saying more customer-experience upgrades are also in the works.
   

3. State official attempts to block unbelievable attraction at iconic park: 'We must safeguard [this]' (thecooldown.com) — Liberty State Park’s future is on the line today as state officials weigh a 60‑year lease that could add a superyacht storage warehouse to Jersey City’s signature waterfront green space. Sen. Angela McKnight and conservation groups are pushing back, warning that privatization and luxury marina expansion could erode scarce public parkland that nearby Jersey City neighborhoods rely on for recreation and cleaner air.
   

4. Where to Drop Off Batteries in Hoboken + Jersey City (hobokengirl.com) — Jersey City residents now have clear guidance on where and how to safely dispose of household and rechargeable batteries, including drop-off at the Department of Public Works on Linden Avenue East. The piece explains what types of batteries can go in regular trash, which must be recycled, and highlights nearby retail take-back options in both Jersey City and Hoboken to reduce fire risks and environmental harm.
   

5. N.J. AG's Office releases vids from September double fatal crash in North Bergen (hudsoncountyview.com) — A young Jersey City resident was one of two drivers killed in a high-speed crash on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, for which the state Attorney General has now released dashcam and surveillance video. Investigators say the Jersey City man was driving a stolen Honda Accord that fled a traffic stop before colliding with another car, and the probe into the incident is still ongoing.
