📰 News we're reading

• Incoming Jersey City Mayor James Solomon Sets Inauguration Date (patch.com) — Jersey City residents are invited to see Mayor-elect James Solomon sworn in on January 15 at a 7 p.m. inauguration focused on building a more affordable, resident-centered city. Solomon, currently the Ward E councilman, recently won a seven-way race and says his new administration will continue to be powered by community involvement, with RSVP details coming soon.

• Ice T Owned Medicine Woman Dispensary in Jersey City Closed (headynj.com) — Ice T–affiliated Medicine Woman dispensary on Tonnelle Avenue has closed less than a year after opening, joining several other shuttered cannabis shops in Jersey City. The piece links these closures to high competition, location issues, and evolving city cannabis rules. With James Solomon becoming mayor next week, City Hall will have a chance to reshape licensing and oversight.

• Crumbl Cookies in Jersey City Announces Permanent Closure, Less Than a Year After Opening (hobokengirl.com) — Crumbl Cookies has permanently closed its Jersey City shop at 318 Grove Street, less than a year after opening in February 2025. The chain hasn’t shared a reason, but the shutdown follows a broader wave of Crumbl closures nationwide. Other North Jersey locations remain open while the future of the Grove Street space is still unknown.
