The figures show Jersey City is one of 17 districts where typical teacher pay has climbed into six figures, outpacing the statewide median of $82,780.

NJ had record-low shooting, auto theft rates in 2025, Murphy says (northjersey.com) — While most New Jersey cities saw shootings drop in 2025, Jersey City actually experienced an 11% increase in shooting victims, bucking the statewide trend. Gov. Phil Murphy highlighted record-low shootings and auto thefts overall, crediting multi-agency crime reduction initiatives even as Jersey City residents face a worrying local uptick.
