2 New Restaurants Coming To Downtown Jersey City
2 new restaurants are coming to Jersey City's pedestrian plaza, said the downtown SID.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — If you're looking for new dining options for a new year, Jersey City may have the variety you need.
The city was named among 11 "Next Great Food Cities" by Food & Wine Magazine in 2021. The following year, the administration of Mayor Steve Fulop announced that the seven-year Restaurant Row project was complete, transforming Newark Avenue into a pedestrian plaza filled with small shops and eateries.
In the last week, the downtown Special Improvement District — the business non-profit responsible for publicity and maintenance — announced that two restaurants are coming to Newark Avenue.

On social media on Tuesday, the group said a "retail space turning into a café" is coming to 197 Newark Ave., the former location of Consigned Designs. The resale shop had opened in late 2023 and announced last February that they were closing. The SID had no further information about the forthcoming café.
They had more information about the Chinese restaurant coming to 189 Newark Ave.

"New eats coming to Downtown Jersey City," they posted, with a photo of signage belonging to Shanway Chengdu Kitchen. "We'll keep an eye out for more details."
The location was previously anchored by Miso Ramen, which closed last year.
Reached by pone on Thursday, the staff at the Chengdu 1 on 15th Street, in the Newport section of Jersey City, said they were not involved with the new restaurant.
