Teen Boy Charged With Murder In Shooting Of Jersey City Girl, 15
A 16-year-old boy was charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Jersey City girl who was returning from a family gathering.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Jersey City girl as she was coming home from a family celebration, prosecutors said.

The juvenile, a Jersey City resident, was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of Cianna Lee and the shooting of one of Lee's female relatives, who survived.

The suspect, who lives in Jersey City and has not been otherwise identified, was also charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons charges, and was arrested on Thursday, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that last Saturday, around 11. p.m., police responded to a shooting near Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street in Jersey City.

Two women had been shot while in a vehicle on Oak Street.
Cianna Lee was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
A 37-year-old female relative of Lee was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where she was treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
Prosecutors did not release further details of the crime or suspect.
A GoFundMe for Lee said that she was coming home from a family celebration. It said, "Cianna Lee was a vibrant and loving young 15 yr old young girl, who was born in Jamaica. She moved to the United States to be with her father and to pursue greater opportunities for her future."
Councilman Frank Gilmore said Lee's high school, Lincoln High, will conduct a balloon release in her memory today (Friday) at 2 p.m.
