Dewey's Dogs Set to Open Sept. 22

The restaurant at the Village Green Plaza will open at 11 a.m.

Dewey’s Dogs, formerly a food truck on the corner of Route 9 and Lakeside Drive South, is set to open its doors at its new storefront location on Sept. 22.

“I’m looking forward to cooking something other than this,” operator Anthony Geiger previously said from the food truck.

The new restaurant at the Village Green Plaza, will feature a greater variety of food, including hot dogs, burgers, homemade sausage and meatballs. Patrons will be able to sit down to eat or take the food to go.

“We’ll expand as we go,” Geiger previously said, adding that Dewey’s Dogs may eventually sell subs and wraps.

With construction underway for a new office building at the truck’s site, Geiger had been searching for a new lot since January 2011. He was offered a spot on the property of the Forked River House Plaza, but the Planning Board denied the application due to a change in laws that disallows the presence of food trucks in town.

Without a place to park his truck, Geiger decided to open up the restaurant.

Inspections have been completed, including a satisfactory report from the Ocean County Board of Health.

Dewey’s Dogs will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m.
