Errors Made in Construction of New 7-Eleven

Monitoring wells were paved over and the building was constructed without a drive through window

The owner of the new 7-Eleven located on the site of the Lacey Shell but there were several “boo-boos” made in the construction of the convenient store.

Monitoring wells were paved over and the 7-Eleven was constructed without a drive through window, its signature feature, Nicole Casale of the zoning board office said.

The 7-Eleven was to be window, owner Waseem Chaudhary of Sean Realty, LLC previously said. The drive through would have a menu but generally customers will be able to purchase coffee, slurpees, donuts and sandwiches.

Drivers would proceed to the drive through in the back of the 7-Eleven and would exit either in front of the Lacey Shell or onto Newark Avenue, he said.

The builder had to go back and add a drive through window, Casale said. But whether Chaudhary decides to utilize the drive through window when the 7-Eleven opens, is up to him.

As for the monitoring wells, Chaudhary may have to discuss the issue with the Lacey Municipal Utilities Authority, Casale said. The wells may have to be dug up and have caps put on them.

The drive through and monitoring well problems had to be addressed prior to opening; otherwise Chaudhary would have had to reappear before the Board of Adjustment.

The and auto repair garage, also located on the site, will remain open. But the convenient store, which was previously located in between Shell’s pumps, was demolished.

Another change Chaudhary made in the plans was to adjust the size of the booth where the gas attendant would sit. Because this modification is not a site change, Chaudhary was able to proceed, Casale said.

Chaudhary is still waiting on permits for the Shell, which will have six gas pumps. The gas station and 7-Eleven must open together, Casale said.

The store and gas station will be open 24 hours, seven days a week. Chaudhary has previously stated that he will be holding a “big grand opening” once the store opens.

Chaudhary did not return calls for comment.
