Feb. 5: Theatre, Art, and Benefits

Events in and around Lacey Township

  1.  The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is holding its 4th Annual Freeze For A Cause. There will be a morning surfing contest at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights at 9 a.m. and a fundraiser at the Crabs Claw Inn in Lavallette in the evening. Dean, a surfer, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease ten years ago. The Cancer Foundation has raised more than $100,000 in his honor to promote cancer awareness and research, and supporting those who are affected by the disease.
  2. Michaels in Toms River is holding another free family event from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Children over the age of three will decorate a creatology vinyl figure doll.
  3. The American Historical Theatre in Waretown presents actress Daisy Century and Isabella Baumfree in “Sojourner Truth- Ain’t I A Woman?” at 11 a.m. The presentation is based on a woman’s fight for the rights of women and African Americans.
  4. The Christian Brothers Academy is having their 36th Annual Art Show and Sale from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Over a hundred artists are anticipated to attend and present and discuss art. For more information, click here.
  5. The Joan Dancy and P.A.L.S. Foundation and the staytough.fightHARD Foundation is holding their Valentine Plunge at 12 p.m. on the main beach. The event will benefit Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
