Forked River Man Originally Charged with Forgery Jailed

Thefts as well as shopping and warrant arrests from the past week

A Forked River man and woman were arrested on outstanding warrants after police responded to a dispute on Monday, Sept. 17.

Police responded to Clubhouse Drive, Forked River at 12:30 a.m. on a report of a dispute between a male and female. Upon arrival, Ryan Lee, 26, of Forked River was discovered to have a no bail warrant issued by Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

The no bail warrant was for failure to appear for violation of probation for original charges of forgery, according to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

Lee was arrested and sent to Ocean County Jail.

According to the Ocean County Department of Corrections, Lee has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, theft and related offenses and willful nonsupport.

Rema Murrar, 23, of Forked River, who was also at the scene, had a $500 warrant out of Barnegat Township. Murrar received an additional charge from Lacey Township on a summons for allegedly obstructing justice.

Murrar allegedly fled when police attempted to investigate the scene, police said. She was released on her own recognizance.

Both Lee and Murrar were previously charged with possession of cocaine after being arrested in Lacey on May 14.

Sept. 17
Christopher Jones, 24, of Forked River was arrested after police responded to the area of Normandie Drive near Enterprise Drive in Forked River.

Jones had a $75,000 warrant issued by North Brunswick and a no bail warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly violating probation for charges of burglary.

Leonard Dasaro, 57, of Forked River was charged with shoplifting. Dasaro allegedly stole $119 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

for having Oxycodone with the intent to distribute on multiple occasions.

Sept. 12
A resident of Maplewood, New Jersey reported that a 2000 22-foot load right boat trailer valued at $4,000 that was being stored at a Lanoka Harbor marina was stolen.

Shannon Augustino, 22, of Forked River was charged on a $2,000 Lacey Township warrant for allegedly shoplifting $192 worth of merchandise from T.J.Maxx. She was also found to have a $250 warrant out of the municipal court. She was processed, able to satisfy the warrants and released.

A resident of Easy Street reported that their unlocked car was entered and a wallet containing personal identification and credit cards was stolen. The total value of the stolen items was $77.

Robert Cafasso, 43, of Forked River was arrested in the parking lot of Walmart on a $500 Lacey Township warrant. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail unable to post bail.

A resident of Yorktown Drive reported that someone stole $200 worth of scrap aluminum from his yard. The value is currently unknown. 

Sept 11
Police responded to Williams Street in Forked River after a resident reported that 10 garden gnomes worth $2 each and a cement Santa Clause valued at $50 were stolen. The Santa was on the front porch and the gnomes were located throughout the property.
