High School Cross Country Team Receives Fourth Straight Mayor's Trophy for 5K

The township Committee awarded the team with the trophy on Thursday

Lacey Township High School’s Cross Country team won the township’s 5K race for the fourth year in a row.

The team was honored with the Mayor’s Trophy at the township Committee meeting on Thursday. The trophy has been awarded to the team each year since 2009.

“It goes to show that we have a fast Cross Country team,” Mayor Mark Dykoff said.

Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower also participated in the 5K and was at the meeting on behalf of the track team’s coaches to accept the trophy.

“We’re so proud of them,” she said. “Their coaches reminded me that not everyone can run because it’s not very easy.”

She added that she was thrilled to participate in the 5K and the students have committed to helping her improve.
