Businesses come and go in Lacey.

This past weekend you learned about two new businesses, including the tarot reader who replaced the Hippie House.

But what’s new with other questionable businesses around Lacey? Here’s a quick update.

purchased the property behind the Applebee’s on Route 9. In January 2011, the applicant expressed hope to open the gym in the summer. The applicant will have to go before the Planning Board first. The board has yet to receive paperwork.

The former Charlie Brown’s was purchased by the owner of Rella’s Italian Tavern. The applicant will need to go before the zoning Board of Adjustment, who has yet to receive paperwork. There is a Rella’s located on Union Avenue in Brielle.

White Castle is back. The fast food restaurant previously approached Lacey’s Planning Board but nothing came of it. An application has been submitted and a White Castle restaurant may open at 245 N. Main Street in Forked River. The applicant will have to receive approval from the Planning Board.

Famous Footwear, located next to Staples on North Main Street, is near completion and should open shortly. A representative did not return calls to comment. 

The old Wawa on Lacey Road was demolished. A will be built.

The new (without a drive through) along with the Shell gas station still await final approval from the zoning board. The convenience store is on the board’s March 5 agenda.

The Shark Fin Inn is for sale. The restaurant is listed on Prudential’s website for $1,900,000.
