Lacey Car Seat Safety Check Coming Up On Saturday In Wal-Mart Parking Lot On Route 9

You can also bring unused prescription meds to the Project Medicine Drop-Off Box and try out the "Impaired Goggles" at the same time

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Come to the Lacey Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor on Saturday and get your child's car safety seat checked out, drop off your unused prescriptions and see how you do wearing the "Impairment Goggles" provided by the Ocean County Health Department.

Lacey police will have certified child seat technicians on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to inspect your child's installed safety seat and learn how to properly install them, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

More than 80 percent of child safety seats are either the wrong seats for the child or are incorrectly installed, the chief said.

Lacey police will also be on site with its Project Medicine (Prescription Drug) Drop-box. The box provides the public with a method to properly dispose of unwanted medication in a safe and legal manner. No syringes or liquids can be put in the box. The box will be located in the Walmart pharmacy department between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., DiBella said.

Lacey Mayor Peter Curatolo will be on hand to walk people through a course wearing "impairment goggles" to see what it's like to drive under the influence. Curatolo - who is the Ocean County Health Department's director of the Intoxicate Driver's Resource Center - will be available to answer any questions.
