Lacey Looking For More Police Officers To Staff Schools

Retired police officers have until Aug. 6 to submit applications for the 2018-2019 school year, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Lacey Township police department is looking for retired police officers to staff schools in the Lacey school district for the 2018-2019 school year, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Applications for the position of Class III Special Law Enforcement Officer can be picked up at the police department at 808 West Lacey Road in Forked River. They must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Aug. 6 to Lt. Paul Sullivan.

Successful applicants will begin work in late August 2018. The starting hourly rate is $25.

Applicants must be retired law enforcement officers who are less than 65 years of age who served as qualified, fully trained, full-time police officers in any municipality or county of the state, or were members of the New Jersey State Police within three years of their appointment to the Lacey position, according to the police department's Facebook page.

They must also have a letter of good standing issued by the agency they retired from that lists the date and type of retirement.

Applicants must also have a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or New Jersey State Police Academy Certification.

They must be capable of passing firearms qualifications as mandated by the New Jersey Attorney General. To see the other requirements for the position, click here.
