Lacey Man Struck, Killed Crossing Street: Police
A 72-year-old Forked River man died Wednesday night after being hit by a car when he tried to cross Beach Boulevard, police said.
LACEY, NJ — A 72-year-old Forked River man died Wednesday night after being hit by a car when he tried to cross Beach Boulevard, police said.
Lacey police responded to a report of a person struck on Beach Boulevard at 7:02 p.m., authorities said.
A preliminary investigation found that the man stepped into the lane of travel as he began to cross the road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound, police said.

Lacey Township EMS and RWJ Paramedics responded to the scene. The man died of his injuries while being transported to the hospital, police said.
Authorities did not immediately identify the man who died.

The 19-year-old driver and a juvenile passenger were not injured during the accident and refused medical attention. Speed was not a contributing factor to the accident, according to police.
The incident remains under investigation. No charges were announced by police.
