Lacey Mom A 'Beacon Of Strength, Resilience' Amid Cancer Diagnosis

LACEY, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your mom extra special?

My mother is a beacon of light, love, strength and resilience. My mom was an ICU nurse for years before becoming the school nurse at Cedar Creek Elementary School. When my mother was
diagnosed with Leukemia she was forced into early retirement. Although my mother misses all her kids at Cedar Creek and the amazing people she has met along the way, she never ceases to amaze me. Despite this huge life event, she stayed strong and genuine. Even throughout her chemotherapy, my mom managed to make everyone around her smile. She is a light entering any dark room, the warmth in the coldest spots. My mother was everyone’s “mom” growing up. She is loved by many. She never forgets a Cedar Creek student. There are some people in this world who are genuinely, irrevocably and purely kind. That is who my mom is.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She was a pillar to many and a caretaker to all.
