Lacey Police Arrest Island Heights Man On Drug Charges

Police responded to McDonalds on a drug activity report, police chief says.

Lacey police recently arrested on Island Heights man after a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 after they received a report of drug activity in the McDonalds restaurant on Route 9, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said

Officers Michael Verwey and Anthony Sarno responded to McDonalds on Route 9 North at 9:51 p.m. on Dec. 2. When they arrived, they were told the suspects were leaving in a blue sedan, the chief said.

They conducted a motor vehicle stop. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Joseph D. Negra, 45, Central Avenue, Island Heights for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, DiBella said.

Negra also had $750 warrant out of Toms River. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was also charged with the criminal warrant and possession of a hypodermic syringe, the chief said.

He was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in default of bail, which included the Toms River warrant.
