Lacey Police Arrest Man On Quad Speeding Down Street And Packing a Gun

Lacey police recently arrested a Forked River man for eluding after he was spotted driving a quad with no lights at night on a township street, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Officer Jason Lee was patrolling Lakeside Drive South and Bullard Avenue in Forked River when he spotted a suspicious quad stopped in the roadway at 8:21 p.m. on Sept. 30.

When Lee attempted to contact Edwards, he accelerated at a high rate of speed towards Bullard Avenue. He stopped on Olds Street after a short pursuit.
Investigation at the scene led to Edward's arrest. He was charged with eluding, unlawful possession of a weapon, lamps required, helmet required, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and improper passing, DiBella said.

Sergeant Robert Surtees, along with Officers Julie Barcalow and Scott Keefe assisted.
Edwards was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River to await a bail hearing. The quad was impounded, the chief said.
