Lacey Police Investigating Theft Of A Fire Hydrant In Lanoka Harbor, Police Chief Says

Replacement cost of hydrant estimated at $2,700.

LACEY TOWNSHIP - A Lacey police officer got a surprise when he responded to a report of a fire hydrant that had been damaged on Western Boulevard recently.

When Officer Jesse Dalziel responded at 7:52 p.m. on April 24, he discovered that the hydrant had been stolen, not damaged, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The hydrant had been located between Ridgemont Drive and the Lutheran Church parking lot. An "End of School Zone" sign had also been knocked down, the chief said.

The Lacey MUA responded to the scene to shut off the water to the fire hydrant. The cost of the stolen fire hydrant is $2,700, DiBella said.
