Lacey Police: Man Who Fled Two-Vehicle Crash Facing Multiple Charges

Cole A. Gonnella, 22, also had three outstanding warrants, police chief says.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - A Lanoka Harbor man who was involved in a two-car crash at the intersection of Laurel Boulevard and Brian Road, then fled the scene is facing a number of motor vehicle charges, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officer Jesse Dalziel responded the accident at 7:32 p.m. on Oct. 1. There he found that one of the drivers, Cole A. Gonnella, 22, Laurel Boulevard, had left the accident scene on foot and entered a nearby home, the chief said.

Gonnella was charged with driving with a suspended license, careless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, failure to report a motor vehicle crash and failure to exhibit documents, DiBella said.

Gonnella also had three outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest. One was for $1,500 out of Stafford Township Municipal Court; the second was for $500 from Lacey Township and the third was for $858 from Little Egg Harbor Township, the chief said.

Gonnella was taken to police headquarters and processed, then he was later taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in default of bail, DiBella said.
