Lacey Police: Ocean Gate Woman Facing Shoplifting, Drug Charges

Kaitlyn V. Ferdon, 26, fled Kohls, later found with heroin and marijuana after she was apprehended, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police recently charged an Ocean Gate woman with shoplifting and possession of heroin after she fled from Kohls, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officers Michael Verwey and Christopher Meyler responded to the store at 304 Route 9, Forked River at 8:14 p.m. on Dec. 26 on a shoplifting report. The suspect fled the store in a motor vehicle and headed north on Route 9, the chief said.

Officer Anthony Sarno stopped the vehicle on Route 9 and Harbor Inn Road in Bayville. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the passenger, Kaitlyn V. Ferdon, 26,Red Bank Avenue, Ocean Gate, NJ. Police found jewelry and clothing, valued at $146.81, in her possession, DiBella said.

Ferdon was also found to be in possession of heroin and marijuana. She was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released on a criminal summons. She was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana of 50 grams or less and possession of drug paraphernalia, the chief said.
