Lacey Police Offering Free Child Safety Seat Inspections On Wednesday

Event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lanoka Harbor Firehouse, police chief says.

Lacey Township police officers are hosting a free courtesy child seat safety check from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Lanoka Harbor Firehouse on Route 9 and Warren Avenue.

Trained certified child seat technicians from Lacey and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department will be on hand to inspect installed seats and help participants in the proper installation of the seats, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

"The officers of the Lacey Township Police Department are dedicated to child safety," the chief said. "Over 80 percent of child safety seats currently installed in vehicles are either the wrong seats for the child being transported or are incorrectly installed. Technicians will assist not only in the inspection of the seats but will also educate caregivers on the proper seat selection and installation."
