Ginger was found off West Bay Avenue in Barnegat. The Popcorn Park Shelter is offering a reward for info that leads to an arrest.
LACEY, NJ — The Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter recently rescued a dog abandoned in the woods off West Bay Avenue near a gun club in Barnegat.
The organization is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. The shelter named the young, female Siberian husky mix Ginger. She is not available for adoption yet, but when she is it will be announced on the Popcorn Park shelter Facebook page and website.
Ginger was rescued on Monday when a man saw a black crate in the woods and found Ginger had broken out of it with a leash attached to her. He secured her back in the crate, moved it out of the woods and waited for the Popcorn Park Shelter’s animal control officer to arrive.

“We can't imagine what goes through someone's mind when they commit such an act of cruelty toward a helpless animal. How someone could lock this dog in a crate, leave her in a rural, wooded area, and turn their back on her and walk away is beyond us,” the Popcorn Park Shelter said.
Ginger was brought back to the Popcorn Park shelter, where officials determined that she was not microchipped. The shelter provided her with comfy beds and medical care.
