Lacey Speedball Tournament Coming Up On Friday Night At Middle School

Games will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Like to play speedball? Are you a seventh or eighth grader in Lacey Township?

The Lacey Township Recreation is holding a free speedball tournament at the Lacey Middle School gymnasium from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The Recreation Department handed out registration forms and Lacey police officers visited each lunch period in the Middle School on Monday to announce the event and pass out registration forms to students..

The Recreation Department has arranged for refreshments and giveaways at the event, while the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation has purchased team T-shirts for participants. The team T-shirts have been purchased in varying colors; so each team will have their own color. The teams get to keep the T-shirts, the chief said.

"This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with police officers in a positive manner," DiBella said. "I look forward to seeing everyone Friday evening. The speedball registration form may include an individual student's name, a few names, or may list all of the names comprising a full team. Students may be grouped into full teams as needed on the night of the speedball event.

Lacey Township police officers have volunteered for the event and will serve as coaches, referees, and assistants, the chief said.
