Lacey Township Police Investigating Numerous Criminal Mischief Complaints

Two incidents involved cutting window screens on the same evening

Lacey Township police are investigating a number of criminal mischief incidents that happened over the past week, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The first incident was reported at 9:09 p.m. on April 22, when Officer Michael Baldasari responded to the 400 block of Devon Street in Forked River. The resident was in her home watching television when she heard glass breaking outside. An investigation revealed that a rock from the front yard of the home was thrown through a storm window. The estimated value of the window is $150.

April 24 - Officer Frederick Anderson responded to the Lacey Township Recycling Yard for a criminal mischief complaint at 8:42 p.m. Investigation at the scene revealed that sometime between 3 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and 8 a.m. on Monday, April 24, someone broke a Plexiglas window on a 2016 Doppstadt SM 720 trammel screen used to filter out trash from dirt and mulch. The equipment is owned by the Ocean County Department of Public Works. This is the second report of criminal mischief to the machine. The first incident was reported on April 17. The estimated damage is $100.

April 26 - Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 1000 block of Orlando Drive in Forked River at 8:12 p.m. on a report of criminal mischief. The complainant reported that between 5:30 a.m. on April 24, 2017 and the evening of April 26, 2017, an unknown person or persons cut several window screens on his residence. The residence does not appear to have been entered. The damage to the screens is estimated at $100.

April 26 - Officer Patrick Watkins responded to the 1000 block of Orlando Drive in Forked River, at 6:35 p.m. on a report of four juveniles who were observed exiting from the rear of a vacant residence. Investigation at the scene revealed that several window screens on the vacant residence were cut and forced entry had been made into the residence. The interior of the residence was checked and no additional damage was located. The damage to the screens is estimated at $100. The incident remains under investigation.
