Lacey's Overdose Awareness Day Slated For Aug. 31
The event is hosted by Young People In Recovery of Ocean County and is part of a nationwide initiative.

Then come to Lacey Township's local event "Lacey's Overdose Awareness Day" on Thursday, Aug. 31.
The event is hosted by Young People in Recovery of Ocean County. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Lacey United Methodist Church at 203 Lacey Road in Forked River, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

"This event is one of many being held nationally, and in New Jersey it is provided by Fed Up, a local coalition working to stop the opioid epidemic," the chief said. "The nationwide event is designed to bring education and more awareness to the opioid epidemic, along with remembering those we lost."
Featured speakers DiBella and John Brogan from Lifeline Family Recovery Group, along with speakers from treatment centers, recovery groups, and local clergy. Organizations attending include, but are not limited to, Hope Sheds Light, Young People in Recovery of Ocean County, Recovery Centers of America and the DART Prevention Coalition.
A candlelight vigil will be held in memory of those lost to overdoses. The event is free and open to the public.
