No Major Problems In Lacey During Blizzard

No garbage or recycling pickups today as public works continues cleanup

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The township fared fairly well during yesterday's blizzard, but some did not heed the call to stay off the roads, despite the State of Emergency declared by Gov. Chris Christie.

"We have had a couple of motor vehicle accidents and some wires down, but the majority of our calls have been from stuck vehicles, 24 so far to be exact," Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said. "The issue with the stuck vehicles is it hinders the Department of Public Works from clearing the roads.'

There won't be any garbage or recycling pickups today, Jan. 5, since Public Works employees will have to focus on clearing roadways. Normal pickups will resume on Monday, he said.
