'No Shave November' On The Way For Lacey Cops And Emergency Responders

Initiative will soon be underway to raise money to fight cancer, police chief says.

Get used to beards and mustaches, Lacey residents.

Members of the Lacey Township Police Department and local emergency services volunteers will put down their razors for the entire month of November to raise money for cancer, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

"Residents in Lacey Township will find some of their police officers and emergency service personnel to be on the 'hairy side' during the month of November," DiBella said. "You may see uniformed police officers sporting beards and mustaches, all in the name of fighting cancer."

The challenge begins on Nov. 1, when representatives from each agency will have a "before" photograph taken of each volunteer. An "after" photograph will be taken on Dec. 1 for comparison, DiBella said.

"I look forward to this initiative while at the same time “sporting” a full beard during the month of November, the chief said. "At the conclusion of the event, the Lacey Police Department grooming policy will be back in full effect until next year’s No-Shave November."
