Police Blotter: Lacey Shell Construction Site Targeted by Thieves

Homes were also burglarized following the holiday weekend

The on Lacey Road has been targeted for thefts as police have responded to the construction site three times in the last three weeks.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, police responded to the gas station on a report of two suspects attempting to steal building materials, police said. The suspects caused $50 in damage to conduit while attempting to steal.

Police were unable to locate the suspects after they fled the area.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, , both 18 and from Forked River. The two males were charged and criminal mischief after allegedly stealing storm grates valued at $1,200 from the site.

Dec. 26
Someone broke the lock to a dumpster behind located at the Lacey Mall and stole $2,000 worth of scrap metal.

Dec. 25
A resident of Clifton Street in Forked River reported a robbery after returning home from the holiday. Approximately $1,000 worth of miscellaneous jewelry along with a PlayStation 3 console and accessories. There was no forced entry. The incident is still under investigation.

Dec. 25
A home on Continental Court was entered and burglarized while the residents were away for the holiday. Assorted jewelry was stolen. Police did not have an estimated value ready. There was no forced entry. Also investigating is the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Unit and the Detective Bureau of the .

Dec. 22
A faceplate of a car stereo valued at $150 was stolen from an unsecured vehicle parked on Oxford Road in Lanoka Harbor.

Dec. 19
Richard Stockum, 38, of Lanoka Harbor was arrested after police responded to a home on Hemlock Drive for an unrelated matter. Stockum had a $305 outstanding warrant out of Beachwood. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of his bail.
