Potassium Iodide Pill Distribution Slated For Late August In Lacey

Do you live within the ten-mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant in Lacey?

Then come and pick up your free potassium iodide pills between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 29 at the Lacey Township High School at 73 Haines Street in Lanoka Harbor.

The Ocean County Health Department will also be offering free blood pressure screenings, stroke risk assssments, glucose screenings cholesterol screenings and medication management, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

The health department will also provide education services dealing with alcohol and drug prevention, intoxicated driver resources, environmental health, communicable diseases and emergency preparedness, the chief said.

You'll also get to wear the "Impairment Goggles" and see how you do on the Impaired Driver Simulated Course. The goggles are provided by the county health department, DiBella said.

Lacey police will be on hand with the Project Medicine prescription drug drop-off box. Residents can dispose of unused or unwanted prescription medications. No syringes or liquids can be dropped in the box.
