Runyan: More than A Thousand Constituent Questions Answered in 2011
Representative highlights veteran issues, Medicare, visas

Column as submitted by Rep. John Runyan:
It is my honor to serve New Jersey's Third Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. One important aspect of my job is to serve as your liaison to the Federal government and to make sure you have access to the information and resources you need from your government.
The staff in my two local offices stand ready to offer guidance and assistance regarding problems you may have in getting the answers you need from a federal agency. Over the past year our office has helped more than 1,000Â constituents across a broad range of issues including veterans benefit claims, Medicare, and Social Security.

Honoring Veterans
The Third Congressional District is home to the largest number of veterans in the state of New Jersey. As a Member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, it is my honor to serve the veterans that have served our nation so proudly. In 2011, my office has assisted hundreds of veterans and hosted veteran expos in Burlington and Ocean County to provide veterans with the latest information on the programs, services and benefits available to them. I am also proud to announce that my office recently hired a new Veterans Caseworker, through the House of Representatives Wounded Warrior Program. I am honored to have a veteran of the United States Marine Corps on our team to serve New Jersey veterans.

Helping Seniors Access their Medicare and Social Security Benefits
In 2011 my office also helped more than 125 seniors resolve problems with Social Security and Medicare. In addition we hosted senior health fairs in Burlington and Ocean County, and convened several telephone town halls in coloration with the Centers for Medicare Services - specifically for seniors to answer questions about Medicare benefits. I have also personally visited a number of senior centers/communities throughout the district, and plan to visit many more over the next year.
Other issues that we may be able to assist with include: Internal Revenue Service; Military Pay problems; Visas/Passports; and Federal Workers' Compensation.
As the second session of the 112th Congress gets under way my staff and I stand ready to serve you and hope that you will not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.
