Semi-Annual Oyster Creek Siren Test Set For Tuesday

Emergency sirens will sound for three minutes at noon.

Don't be alarmed next Tuesday if you hear sirens from the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station blare for three minutes at noon.

Exelon Generation - the plant's owner - will conduct its semi-annual, full volume test of the emergency warning sirens on Dec. 6. This is one of two semi-annual tests scheduled for June and December each year, Exelon spokesman Suzanne D'Ambrosio.

The Oyster Creek emergency warning siren system consists of 42 sirens located within a 10-mile radius of the Oyster Creek Generating Station in Lacey Township.
